Uwena is derived from the Cherokee word uwehna’i meaning “wealthy”.

Wealth can mean many things to many people, but we believe that in the Cherokee tradition wealth means being rich in knowledge, resources, and opportunity.

Uwena will support individuals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders in growing their capacity, network, share ideas, and work collaboratively to build generational community wealth - aligned with the Cherokee core values - and supporting an economically sovereign tribal nation.

Vision: Uwena seeks to grow and support an economically sovereign and vibrant community through the creation of generational wealth that is aligned with the Cherokee Core Values.

Mission: Uwena will work to build generational community wealth within the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians through education, outreach, and resources in financial literacy, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial support.
